Graycliff Restoration Phase II: Port Cochere Fountain

The octagonal fountain at the base of the porte cochere adjacent to the main entrance of the Isabelle R. Martin house was restored to its 1929 appearance in 2002. The fountain was modified in the early 1930's to reduce maintenance on the Estate. In its restored condition, it flows into the short naturalistic stream linking it to the irregular shaped sunken pool in the center of the entrance circle. The restored moving path of water provides a connection to the distant view of the horizon of Lake Erie and the illusion that the water flows from the entry to the main house itself.
