New York State Awards Graycliff
On November 30th, Graycliff learned that it is the recipient of New York State funding through the Environmental Protection Fund of $477,522 towards the restoration of Graycliff’s historic landscape, the largest amount awarded to any organization in Western New York. Graycliff is honored to have been recognized in this manner by our elected officials, who were important advocates of this significant funding. Senator Mary Lou Rath, Chair of the Senate Tourism, Recreation and Sports Development Committee said “It is wonderful that so many of Western New York’s treasures, such as Graycliff and the Roycroft Campus, will be able to benefit from this funding, creating more opportunities for tourists and state residents to enjoy them.” "It is imperative that we make sure that the State of New York invests in protecting our historic landscape," said Senator Dale M. Volker. "This funding will allow current and future generations of New Yorkers who are committed and proud of our heritage, our culture, and our history to enjoy the beauty of our landscape." “I was very pleased to hear the Graycliff Estate received this EPF grant to restore Graycliff’s beautiful landscape,” said Assemblyman Jack Quinn. “I’ve always considered Graycliff a gem of the Southtowns and the 146th District. This grant will only enhance its status in Western New York.” "Some things can never be replaced, and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Graycliff is one of them. The Graycliff Conservancy is doing a wonderful job preserving this architectural treasure, and we at the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation look forward to continuing working with the Conservancy to care for a truly unique part of Western New York’s rich heritage," Carol Ash, Commissioner, New York State Office of Parks Recreation and Historic Preservation, said eloquently. The many, many members and volunteers of the Graycliff Conservancy are delighted at the news of this wonderful award, which will allow the Conservancy to continue its important preservation and restoration efforts.
