Graycliff Gala Sets Fundraising Momentum

On October 18, 1997, the Conservancy held its first major fundraising event, a gala, which was held at the Market Arcade in downtown Buffalo, NY.  The gala drew over 400 people and raised $9,222.00. Former Buffalo Bill, Will Grant, served as emcee for the event which featured guest musicians from the Buffalo Song Project, the 12/8 Path Band.  Food and beverages were sponsored by the Breckenridge Brewery and other enthusiastic vendors. A silent auction was also held with items donated by over 100 local businesses and individuals.

Assemblyman Sam Hoyt spoke during the event, offering his support and thoughtful words of encouragement. Dr. V. Roger Lalli, a recognized Buffalo artist, unveiled the latest watercolor from his series, Buffalo, My City.

The success of the gala is due in part to the hard work of the 50+ Conservancy volunteers and the splendid cooperation of the Buffalo Enterprise Development Corporation and the CEPA Gallery.
