Landmark Society Honors Preservationists at Award Ceremony

The Landmark Society of the Niagara Frontier honored several individuals for their leadership on Wednesday, May 26 at the Karpeles Museum. The award for an exemplary preservation project was presented to David and Marsha Karpeles of Santa Barbara, California. Due to their efforts, the 1911 Plymouth Methodist Church stands today as the Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum. Mr. and Mrs. Karpeles own five additional manuscript museums in Florida, Washington, California and Minnesota and are believed to have amassed the largest private manuscript collection in the world.

Carol Bronnenkant, President of the all-volunteer Graycliff Conservancy, received the Landmark Society's Service Award for her role in founding the Conservancy and acquiring Graycliff, which was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright as the summer estate of the Darwin D. Martin family.
