The Margaret L. Wendt Foundation

December 3, 2007

The Graycliff Conservancy, Inc. is proud to announce receipt of a very generous grant in the amount of $325,000 from the John R. Oishei Foundation. The funds will be used to further the restoration of the Graycliff Estate, designed by noted American architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

Diane Chrisman, President of the Graycliff Conservancy, Inc. said: “We are very grateful to the Margaret L. Wendt Foundation for its continuing support of Graycliff’s restoration. The many volunteers and members of Graycliff consider it a vote of confidence in the Conservancy’s efforts, and in the recognition of the Graycliff Estate as an important architectural landmark in Western New York.”

The Margaret L. Wendt Foundation is well known for its support of charitable organizations which work in the fields of historic preservation, education, health care and other cultural, social, civic and other charitable needs of the community. The Foundation was established in 1956 through a charitable trust by Margaret L. Wendt, a prominent Western New York benefactor.  Margaret L. Wendt’s personal commitment to charity has been continued by her Foundation, which was among the first in this region to deliberately seek out projects with great potential impact on the well-being of the entire community.

The Graycliff Conservancy will use the Margaret L Wendt Foundation funding to advance work on Phase IIIB of the restoration of the Graycliff Estate.
